This is highly disrespectful.
Leonard Fournette is entering the final year of his contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars and he is just one of the few remaining players on the team from that 2017 AFC Championship team that came so close to defeating the New England Patriots.
Since then, the team has finished dead last in the AFC South two years in a row and has prompted Fournette to try and recruit players to Jacksonville. He tried to get Cam Newton’s attention back in March on Instagram.
Fournette then doubled down on that with a recent appearance on First Take where he would deliver a pitch to the former Panthers QB to come to Jacksonville.
“I feel like Cam, Cam went to the Super Bowl. He’s a great guy, I’ve been knowing Cam for a minute now,” said Fournette. “Like I told some people that talked to me, it’s no disrespect to Minshew. I’m just trying to get into the best position as a team [so] we can win. That’s all that was about. Just friendly competition because [it] brings out the best in people.”

Newton is a former MVP and still clearly has something left in the tank, but Gardner Minshew probably feels some type of way about a teammate campaigning for another QB to come in and take his job.
It seems unlikely the front office will bring him in after trading Nick Foles and Calais Campbell this offseason. Jacksonville looks to be rebuilding the franchise.
