The stage is set at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the 2024 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
Super Bowl 58 will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
As kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday approaches, many are questioning whether we will have a repeat of what happened last year as players from the Chiefs and Eagles were slipping and sliding. Players slipped when they tried to cut as upturned divots dotted the field. Many, including Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, had to change their cleats.
The problem resulted from the field’s treatment in the week before the game.
How the field will hold up Sunday at Allegiant Stadium is a major question. And rightfully so. It’s similar to last year’s field. One year later and the league is making damn sure that does not happen again.
Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas has a similar tray system to what State Farm Stadium has as the field is treated and prepared outside the stadium and slid into the venue on a massive tray.

This time, the league is confident that will not have issues.
More from NFL Executive Vice President Peter O’Reilly, via ProFootballTalk:
“We have brought in, as we do each year, a brand new natural grass surface that is currently installed in the field tray outside Allegiant Stadium,” he said. “That has been in for a little bit now and is working through all of our standard testing procedures that’ll take place over the time from installation all the way up through the day before, that Saturday right before the game. Those adjustments and a core maintenance program are in place so we’ll have an optimal field on game day. That natural grass surface, brand new, is installed right now, and a great team maintaining it as we head up to the Super Bowl.”
One key difference between the Arizona and Las Vegas systems is the Allegiant Stadium tray is equipped with heating coils. The coils in the tray fool the grass into thinking it is still warm so it will keep growing.
The league also stated that its field maintenance specialists had been monitoring the field for weeks in advance of the game.
