In new court filings, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ legal team withdrew its request for a hearing to discuss sealing the suit brought by Alexandra Davis — who claims Jones is her biological father — and adds allegations that Jones was a victim of “attempted extortion.”
Jones’ attorneys alleged Davis offered to “make a deal” with Jones before filing the suit. The defense attorneys also allege Jones and the Cowboys were “targets of multiple monetary extortion attempts.”
“The potential source(s) of those attempted extortions, including, without limitation, the Plaintiff and her agents, will be the subject of other litigation which has been filed or will be instituted shortly,” the legal filing states.
On Wednesday, Davis’ lawyers, Andrew A. Bergman and Jay K. Gray, fired back at Jones. They said Jones “maliciously accused his own daughter of extortion.”
“Even more distasteful is that Mr. Jones has stooped so low as to attempt to tie Alexandra’s lawsuit into his other daughter’s, Charlotte Jones, divorce to have it lost among his many scandals,” they said in a statement, via ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr.
The lawyers added that Jones has “consequently traumatized” Davis.

“After years of anguish, embarrassment, feelings of abandonment, and now faced with a potentially fatal illness to her mother, Alexandra wants to be legally acknowledged,” Bergman and Gray wrote. “She merely wants to have her father listed on her birth certificate and be free from hiding who she is.”
Both sides initially agreed to seal the full lawsuit, but court documents state Davis “claims Defendant is Plaintiff’s biological father and makes several additional allegations claiming Defendant paid for Plaintiff and Plaintiff’s mother to keep this information confidential.”
It’s clear that this situation won’t be going away anytime soon.
