LaVar Ball is truly the king of making outrageous statements to garner attention, which we’ve seen over the past few years. The father of basketball players Lonzo, LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball has appeared on a variety of sports shows that include ESPN’s First Take where famously boasted that he could beat both Michael Jordan and Zion Williamson one-on-one on the court.
He’s also had a feud with LeBron and even President Trump in the past.
His list of crazy headlines went on for another day when the CEO of Big Baller Brand told TMZ Sports that he wants to start signing big name football and basketball draft prospects starting in 2021.
“LaVar tells us his vision for BBB athletes is to have an ownership stake in their products … and rather than getting fixed money upfront — they’ll get a percentage of ALL their sales going forward!!
“The guys that I want to be involved with, I want them to believe in themselves,” LaVar says. “So, I would give them 40 percent of the profit of what they make.”
Ball continued, “I’m not going to give them the 5-year, $10 million deal. Because everybody’s like, ‘Oh, he’s passing up $10 million!’ Like, nah, if you really believe in yourself and you’re going to be the head of a franchise, you’d rather have ownership.”

Basically, Ball says that if a guy sells a million shirts worldwide at $100 each, and the player gets 40% of the profit, he can bring in $40 million on his first deal.
“That’s all I want is for guys to understand their self-worth.”
Ball was actually a practice squad member of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers in 1995, but never played an official regular season game in the National Football League.
