Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is set to miss Saturday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a sprained shoulder. And the most recent report on the MVP candidate’s injury suggests he might not be ready for the New Orleans Saints in Week 17 either.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting as much, noting that doctors have determined the QB is dealing with an SC (sternoclavicular) joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. This injury occurs in the joint that links the collarbone to the breastbone.
The Eagles will continue to monitor Hurts and how his shoulder responds to rest and treatment. In the meantime, backup QB Gardner Minshew will be starting. Further evaluation of said joint will decide whether or not Jalen plays against the Saints next Sunday.
The Eagles Need One More Win From their Next Three Fixtures
The Eagles only need one more win from the three fixtures they have remaining to snatch the top seed in the NFC, as well as homefield advantage for the playoffs.
The best-case scenario for Philly would be winning vs. Dallas this weekend so they won’t need to play Hurts until the postseason.
The 24-year-old QB is having a breakout campaign, having already passed for 3,427 yards and 22 touchdowns, only throwing five interceptions all season while completing 67.3 percent of his attempts. He has also registered 13 rushing TDs.
