When the Miami Dolphins acquired Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals at the 2019 NFL Draft, it looked like an absolute steal. After all, Rosen had just been drafted with the 10th overall pick one year earlier, yet the Fins only had to give up a late-second rounder and a fifth rounder for him.
Many praised the Dolphins for stepping up and landing a possible franchise quarterback for such a cheap price, but it appears as though it might be the Cardinals who deserve the praise here.
According to early reports out of Dolphins camp, Rosen is actually being outplayed by career-journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick.
No offense to FitzMagic here. He’s proven to be a pretty competent quarterback throughout his career, but he’ll be turning 37 this year. Rosen was acquired with the expectations that he’d be “the guy.”
It’s not looking like that early on, however. If Rosen continues to underperform, you can bet your life the Dolphins will be using their first-round draft pick in 2020 on a REAL franchise quarterback.
