Peyton Hillis is still in critical condition after saving his kids from drowning.
The former NFL running back is continuing to deal with kidney issues stemming from the swimming accident in Pensacola, Florida, per WREG.com.
Hillis has made minor improvements but his kidneys are the cause of major concern as he remains under intensive care after being flown to hospital via a chopper. The ex-RB is also understood to have suffered damage to his lungs and, according to Alyssa Orange of KNWA of Fox 24 in Arkansas, he was unconscious and on a ventilator in the ICU after being admitted.
Hillis was selected out of the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, entering the league as the 227th overall pick. He went on to play for the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New York Giants before retiring in 2015.
Greg Hillis, Peyton’s uncle, posted an update to Facebook on January 5 in which he revealed the latter was doing better, though he was still struggling with lung and kidney issues.
“I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better,” Greg wrote. “He’s still in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and lungs but the doctors say he is improving. I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers being thrown up on his behalf!!!”
