The Las Vegas Raiders made Davante Adams the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL when he came in via trade back in March, yet the two-time First-Team All-Pro is thought to be ready to depart.
Adams wanted to join the Raiders so he could play with his best friend Derek Carr but the quarterback has been benched for the rest of the season in what’s gone down as a shocking development. And his time in a Vegas uniform might be coming to an end.
No one would fault the WR for being displeased and it shouldn’t come as a surprise should he want out too. After all, he didn’t just join the Raiders to play with Carr – he joined because he thought they had a shot at winning the Super Bowl.
It’s likely that Adams does not think he can win with an inexperienced QB – the Raiders will be starting Jarrett Stidham the rest of the way – and could ask to be traded ahead of next season.
It’s since been rumored that there is only one QB acquisition that would get the six-time Pro Bowl star to stay in Vegas: his former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers. Adams and Rodgers played together for all of the former’s career up until earlier this year.
Rodgers’ future is thought to be uncertain, despite the Packers signing him to a lucrative three-year deal this year. The former league MVP reuniting with Adams in Vegas seems unlikely at the moment. But more shocking things have happened.
