The Las Vegas Raiders have made two incredibly important hires since the ending of the regular season. First, they decided to remove the interim tag from Antonio Pierce and named him the full-time head coach moving forward after he registered a 5-4 record in the final nine games of the regular season.
Secondly, they hired former Chargers general manager Tom Telesco to man the same position for them as he had in Los Angeles. With these two important pieces of the puzzle now in place, the focus will shift to finding a franchise quarterback who can lead this team for the next decade and beyond.
Some believe they know who the Raiders will be targeting as their next quarterback and it is reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. Daniels played the previous two seasons with LSU, but before that he spent his first three seasons with Arizona State where Antonio Pierce was on the coaching staff. Current Raiders cornerback Jack Jones was also on that Sun Devils team and he threw fuel on the fire when he recently posted a message on X.
The Raiders currently hold the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and Daniels is a projected top three pick so it would take some wheeling and dealing for Las Vegas to move up in order to select Daniels.
One of the most important decisions for a football organization to make is who will start at quarterback as that position is usually the face of the franchise. Pierce and Telesco will have their work cut out for them making this decision, lucky for them their are several viable options available to them in both the draft as well as free agency.
