The Las Vegas Raiders’ locker room culture and team morale has reportedly changed significantly since the firing of head coach Josh McDaniels.
After a Week 8 loss to the Detroit Lions, owner Mark Davis fired McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler. Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce was named the interim HC, with Champ Kelly replacing Ziegler as GM.
The Raiders have gone 2-0 since the coaching/GM change to climb back to .500. At 5-5, they’re very much alive in the race for the AFC’s final wild card spot.
Per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, a Raiders team source said that the players’ have “taken” over the place, and that Davis is totally okay with it.
“The players have taken this place over,” the source told Russini. “Ownership is fine with it, too.”
Another source told Russini, “It’s like ‘Ding dong, the witch is dead.'”
