The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly one of five teams that have lined up a meeting with one of the marquee quarterback prospects in this year’s draft.
According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Florida Gators’ quarterback Anthony Richardson has April visits scheduled with the Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans.
Carolina and Indianapolis hold the the No. 1 and No. 4 picks, respectively, so it’s not at all surprising that they want to meet with Richardson. The Falcons have the No. 8 pick and may take a quarterback if one of the best prospects is available to them.
With Ryan Tannehill entering the last year of his contract, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Tennessee tried to find his successor in the early rounds. The Raiders are certainly noteworthy, though, since they just handed veteran Jimmy Garoppolo a three-year contract in free agency.
The Raiders hold the No. 7 pick and are in a good spot to get one of the “big four” quarterback prospects in Richardson, Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Kentucky’s Will Levis.
Las Vegas decided to start over at quarterback by releasing Derek Carr after nine seasons. Carr refused to waive his no-trade clause so he was set free and entered free agency before signing with the New Orleans Saints.

Vegas’ contract to Garoppolo indicates that they want him to be the long-term starter. But given his age (32 in November) and long injury history, head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler may find it tough to pass up on a top QB prospect if available when it’s the Raiders’ turn to pick.
