The Raiders are likely to move on from one of their veteran defensive backs as soon as this week.
The Las Vegas Raiders are planning to release veteran cornerback Marcus Peters, reports Vic Tafur of The Athletic.
The 30-year-old, a two-time first-team All-Pro CB, was benched before halftime Sunday and has likely played his last game with the Raiders. Interim head coach Antonio Pierce benched Peters in the second quarter of Sunday’s 31-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs following a missed tackle.
The two had a brief exchange on the sideline at halftime.
The Raiders have a bye week in Week 13, and Peters isn’t expected to be back with the team for Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings, Tafur adds.
Peters joined the Raiders on a one-year, $3-million contract in July. He entered Sunday with 11 missed tackles in 2023, according to Football Reference.

Peters started Las Vegas’ first 12 games. He recorded five passes defensed and a pick-six in the team’s Oct. 30 loss to Detroit.
The Raiders head into the bye week with a 5-7 record. Pierce is now 2-2 as the interim coach.
