The NFL is one of the most professional leagues in the world, and some argue that they take things too seriously. However, occasionally, there are bound to be some mess-ups, and the Las Vegas Raiders may have found this out on draft day.
The 2023 NFL Draft contained some intriguing players, to say the least. From Bryce Young being selected at the top of the draft and immediately followed by CJ Stroud, there was no shortage of storylines.
The Las Vegas Raiders had an okay draft in April of 2023; however, it could have been better based on one recent story that hasn’t been confirmed. According to ESPN, the Raiders may have drafted the wrong player in the third round of that draft.
Almost two years later, @YourboyQ254 still isn’t convinced the Raiders meant to draft Alabama DT Byron Young instead of Tennessee DE Byron Young, who the Rams took seven picks later 🤣🤣 https://t.co/5V0tvmL238 pic.twitter.com/Dt06P27yYB

One fan took X to explain the story after MLFootball posted it to their social media page. He claimed that Los Angeles Rams star Byron Young had received a call from the Raiders stating they would draft him.

Did The Los Vegas Raiders draft The Wrong Byron Young?
However, when the pick came in, the drafted player was not who the Raiders and Young thought they had selected, and the team may not have even realized it. They had just drafted Alabama defensive lineman Byron Young.

Yes, the Raiders made a mistake and drafted the wrong Byron Young in the third round of the 2023 draft, but it should be noted that none of this has been confirmed. The Young the Raiders took was ranked 170th in the class, while the Young that the Rams took was ranked 72nd.
It is safe to say that there was a vast difference between the two players. The Rams have a bright future in their young edge rusher, while the Eagles took the other Byron Young after the Raiders released him.
After all, the Raiders will double-triple or even quadruple-check the picks they send to the league office. Their future could have and almost should have been a lot brighter.
