Deshaun Watson’s eye clearly didn’t bother him one bit on Sunday as he lead his Houston Texans squad to a dominant 26-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London.
Watson, who went 22 of 28 for 201 yards and two touchdowns, was asked about his injured eye after the game and he gave credit to Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich for healing him.
“The eye is great. I’ll tell you the key,” Watson said on the NFL Network. “The key is the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches that I ate this week that helped the eye.”
That comment was funny to everybody who saw it, except….Larry Johnson.
The former NFL running back took to Twitter and blasted Watson for feeding into the stereotype of Black people loving chicken.
“When players say dumb shit like this, it’s hard not to believe they are just the handled puppets I spoke of.
2019 and still shucking and jiving the chicken stereotype.”
