For an athlete to reach their full potential, they not only have to have the talent to get their job done, but they need to be in the right situation with the right people around them.
During an appearance Tuesday on “The Michael Kay Show,” Larry David claimed he called former GM Mike Maccagnan ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft and told him to use the third-overall pick on a quarterback not named Sam Darnold.
“I did call Mike Maccagnan before the 2018 draft and I recommended that he draft Lamar Jackson,” said David.
“He laughed at me, but who could blame him, nobody thought Jackson was gonna be (this good),” David said.
The Ravens picked Jackson with the 32nd pick and now they have the top seed in the postseason and the 23-year-old is likely to be named MVP as they get set to take on the Titans Saturday in the AFC divisional round.
Maccagnan was fired last May with two years remaining on his contract.
