The 2025 NFL draft will be held at one of the sport’s most famous locations, but not everybody is thrilled about it.
On Monday, the NFL announced the draft will take place at the home of the Green Bay Packers:
“The Draft has become a prominent offseason event hosted in different cities with spectacular locations across the country, and we are excited to work with the Packers and Discover Green Bay to bring the 2025 NFL Draft to Green Bay and iconic Lambeau field,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Green Bay would be the smallest city to ever host the event, with a population of 106,095, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, The Athletic reported.
“This is an incredible day for the Packers, Greater Green Bay, and the entire state of Wisconsin as we are excited and honored to be selected to host the 2025 NFL Draft,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy on the Packers website. “The Packers have a rich and proud history that goes back to the early days of the NFL and are the only community-owned team.
Many fans took to Twitter and roasted the location of this draft after they just watched the 2023 Draft in Kansas City last month welcoming more than 312,000 fans.

The NFC North will be under the draft spotlight in the coming years, as the event will be held in Detroit in 2024. It also took place in Chicago in 2015 and 2016, which ended a long stretch of hosting the draft in New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
While the 2025 draft is still two seasons away, it will be interesting to see where the Packers are selecting when they host the event.
For the actual team, the Aaron Rodgers era is over after he was traded to the New York Jets this offseason. The team will be riding behind Jordan Love for the foreseeable future.
