If anybody is wondering the Baltimore Ravens offense looks absolutely nothing like it did in 2019, Lamar Jackson provided one possible explanation.
During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Jackson said he can hear defenses calling out Baltimore’s plays once both sides get set at the line of scrimmage:
“They’re calling out our plays, stuff like that,” Jackson said. “They know what we’re doing. Sometimes stuff won’t go our way if they’re beating us to the punch.”
Jackson admitted that defenses are calling their plays:
“Yeah, they definitely do,” Jackson said. “Like, ‘run’ and stuff like that. ‘Watch out for this, watch out for that.’ Sometimes that’s what’s going on.”
The reigning NFL MVP also has to look himself in the mirror as his completion percentage has dropped from 66.1 to 62.9 and his touchdown percentage is 5.6, down from a league-best 9.0 last season.

The Ravens still boast the NFL’s top-ranked rushing attack and are eighth in scoring, but things haven’t looked as easy as they did in 2019.
Even with their issues, the Ravens currently sit at 6-2 and look poised for a deep playoff run.
