Lamar Jackson has lofty goals for next season, having agreed the most lucrative deal n NFL history with the Baltimore Ravens.
The quarterback sat down in front of a camera to actually put pen to paper on that deal, also discussing his goals for the upcoming campaign.
Jackson is apparently keen on breaking the record for passing yards in a single season as he plans to pass for 6,000 yards in 2023 as the Ravens have put some better offensive weapons around him in Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers. Rashod Bateman will also return after undergoing season-ending surgery last year.
The current record, 5,570 set by Patrick Mahomes last season, would stand for just around a year should Jackson go ahead and pass for 6K.
“I’m very eager … I told someone I want to throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have,” he said. “I’m not an individual awards type of guy or a stat watcher, I just want to do that. No one’s ever done it and I feel like we have the weapons to do it.
“We’ve got explosive guys with the new additions, Zay [Flowers], OBJ, and we’ve got [Rashod]Bateman who will be 100 percent healthy, and you can’t forget about my boy Mark [Andrews]. … I just can’t wait to get rollin’.”

Fans aren’t buying it, though.
As he must have expected, Jackson was questioned about his trade request in March, with the press eager to know what caused the change of heart. However, the player was unwilling to discuss the longstanding impasse.
“Today, we’re gonna keep it about the future,” he said. “I’m not really worried about what happened in the past. I’m gonna keep it about these next five years. And keep it about what’s going on today. You know, it’s a great day.”
The former MVP has received a five-year, $260 million deal that guarantees him $185 million. That came on the back of Jalen Hurts landing a $255 million deal after helping take the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl.
