Many people took issue with the way ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported the untimely passing of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
In his breaking tweet earlier today, Schefter made a point to reference Haskins’ struggles at the NFL level before announcing that he had died after being struck by a vehicle in South Florida.
Twitter was quick to blast Schefter for his insensitive reporting, causing the popular NFL personality to delete the tweet and publish a revised version. But by that point the damage had been done. Schefter had offended many, including Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
The 2019 NFL MVP was having none of Schefter’s comments. He took to Twitter to blast the ESPN reporter, calling him out for being “lame asf”:
Schefter’s comments obviously offended a lot of people, but it’s not often you see a former NFL MVP go after a reporter on social media like this. Good on Lamar for sticking up for his friend.
