It appears we may be coming to a resolution when it comes to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. This week, the team went out and signed free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and they may have done more than just given them a new wideout.
The move has seemingly determined whether Lamar Jackson will play for them in 2023.
Appearing on NFL Network, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that there was an “intersection” between Odell’s signing and Jackson’s willingness to remain with the Ravens. He added that Jackson was involved in recruiting, which suggested that he intends to be the Ravens’ quarterback in 2023.
“[Ravens GM] Eric DeCosta said really what he’s been saying all the time, which is that, ‘We love Lamar. We want to get a deal done, he’s a big part of our future,'” Rapoport said.
“Hearing Odell say it, knowing that he had just spoken to Lamar, probably in a little less guided fashion I would guess, was positive too. At least it appears that Lamar Jackson is going to be the Ravens quarterback for the 2023 season.”
Shortly after Lamar Jackson requested a trade from the team in March, the team would place a non-exclusive franchise tag on him, which will give Jackson a one-year deal with the team. Aside from that, it also allowed teams to submit an offer sheet for a long-term contract that the Ravens can either match or decline to match. Many teams immediately came out and stated their unwillingness to engage with him.
Jackson would soon tell the world he requested a trade, but no teams has still reached out.

It is looking more and more likely that Jackson will not get his fully guaranteed contract and will be playing on this franchise tag next season.
