Last week, Lamar Jackson had social media buzzing when he liked a tweet of a photoshopped picture of him in a Miami Dolphins uniform.
Jackson is a Florida native and spent his high school days at Boynton Beach. The connection was clear, which is why social media went nuts about it.
However, in a recent appearance on the GoJo Show, Jackson said the entire thing was done as a joke. He further went on to explain that he did to make fun of fans who think he wants to leave Baltimore.
“(Baltimore) is a great organization. They’re a friendly organization and I love being here. I tweeted it before that this is the place I want to be at,” Jackson said. “So now I’m seeing things like ‘Oh, he wants out.’ And I’m like ‘Yeah, because I see you all keep engaging in that way…’ Alright, so I’m gonna play it back and I liked something. This is just me shooting my shots on social media because they like doing it, I guess.”
The Baltimore Ravens have seen the topic of a potential contract extension with quarterback Lamar Jackson turn into a major storyline over the past year. The two sides have yet to come to terms on a long-term deal, causing major debate as to when or if some form of an agreement will be reached before they take the field on Sunday.
