Lamar Jackson was bizarrely penalized during the early stages of the Baltimore Ravens’ win over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
The Ravens quarterback ran into his own end zone to escape pressure after his offensive line caved but ended up tripping over referee Alex Moore who fell right in front of him before throwing the ball away. The incident led to a shocking call, with San Francisco being gifted two points to open the scoring as Baltimore was hit with a safety, with Lamar’s going down adjudged to be intentional grounding.
Despite giving up two easy points, as well as an extra three when the Niners got the ball, the Ravens made easy work of the former Super Bowl favorites, winning 33-19.
Jackson was asked about the collision after the win and revealed that Moore apologized to him after his potentially costly error.
“He came back and apologized, like, ‘My bad,’ but it’s all good,” Jackson said. “It’s all good. But those two points helped them out a lot.”
The QB added that he preferred giving up the two points instead of a touchdown while insisting he would have been able to escape the pressure had the ref not gotten in his way.

Fortunately for Moore, his fall did not affect the outcome of the match. Just imagine the backlash he would have had to endure had the Ravens lost by a slim margin.
