Adam Schefter is one of the most respected sources for NFL news, but it appears as though one of his latest statements is getting fact-checked by the very man he quoted.
Following Lamar Jackson’s appearance on LeBron James’ YouTube series, “The Shop,” Schefter released an article about some of the comments that the Baltimore Ravens quarterback made during their discussions on race and racism in sports. Schefter then posted the article on his Twitter accounts with the caption, “Ravens’ Lamar Jackson said racial bias against black quarterbacks is ‘still there’ in the NFL.”
Lamar apparently didn’t agree with the way Schefter framed his comments, so he retweeted the post with a special message for the ESPN insider:
While discussing the bias against black quarterbacks from the 70s and 80s and the belief that they couldn’t “think fast enough” to play the position, the other guests on the show could be heard saying, “it’s still there,” while Jackson simply said, “that’s why I need to win a championship.”
Jackson wasn’t the one who said “it’s still there,” which explains why he took issue with Schefter’s quote.
