Last week, the cap-strapped Cowboys released the two-time rushing champion from his contract. The club set the franchise tag on 2022 team rushing leader Tony Pollard, and they have since signed veteran running back Ronald Jones for insurance.
A top AFC club is the betting favorite to land former Dallas Cowboys’ star running back Ezekiel Elliott.
At OddsChecker, the Los Angeles Chargers are the betting favorites to sign the 27-year-old Elliott at +275. The Chargers, of course, recently hired ex-Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to fill the OC position.
Not only that, but Chargers’ star running back Austin Ekeler requested a trade earlier this week, citing the wish for a better contract. If the Bolts end up trading Ekeler, adding a productive veteran like Elliott makes good sense.
The Buffalo Bills have the second-best odds of signing Elliott at OddsChecker (+350), followed by the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (+450) and then the Baltimore Ravens (+500).
The Chargers are coming off a second straight winning season (10-7) as well as their first playoff berth since 2018. They held a 27-0 lead on the Jacksonville Jaguars but imploded entirely in the second half and fell 31-30, despite not committing a single turnover.
LA’s historic collapse ultimately cost Joe Lombardi his OC position despite tremendous success with Justin Herbert. Moore’s dismissal in Dallas was a surprise to many considering that they were a top-10 offense in both 2021 and 202 while also finishing with back-to-back 12-win seasons.

Will Moore and Elliott soon reunite in La La Land? Only time will tell.
