On Sep. 8, the Los Angeles Rams will travel to Detroit to face off against the Lions in a Week 1 matchup. Unfortunately, just days before the game, the Rams have put cornerback Darious Williams on injured reserve, which means he’ll be out for at least the first four weeks of the season.
It’s a huge blow for the Rams, who have become a favorite team, to at least make the playoffs and possibly be content with the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC West.
Williams is one of the many injuries the Rams have had at the corner position. They also had to place Derion Kendrick on injured reserve, and Cobie Durant is currently listed as questionable on the depth chart.
The exact reason for his placement is a hamstring strain, which happened at the beginning of training camp. However, he was practicing through it, as he was listed as a participant at Wednesday’s practice.
Williams was a key starter for the Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2022. After that season, though, he left to join the Jaguars on a three-year $30 million contract.

After just two seasons there, Jacksonville cut Williams, and he eventually returned to the Rams, signing a three-year $22.5 million deal.
Darious Williams Got His First Real Chance With The Rams
Williams was originally an undrafted rookie free agent in 2018 when the Baltimore Ravens, but didn’t last long there. After four games with the team, he was waived and eventually signed with the Rams.
However, it wasn’t until 2022 that he got some decent playing time. He played in 81% of the team’s defensive snaps and even saw some time with special times.
Since then, he’s been a bonified starter everywhere he’s gone.
