The biggest question leading into April draft’s will be whether the Arizona Cardinals will actually pull the plug on Josh Rosen at quarterback after selecting him in 2018 and draft Kyler Murray with the #1 overall pick. Murray’s relationship with head coach Kliff Kingsbury as well as his comments on taking him #1 before he got the job will be the sole reason why this conversation won’t die.
Even though the former Oklahoma QB isn’t participating at the combine, he is doing several interviews with different teams who are interested in selecting him. Former NFL General Manager Charley Casserly made a claim on NFL Network Tuesday that he’s heard from several teams that Murray has been downright terrible during the interview process.
“He better hope Kingsbury takes him No. 1 because this was not good. These were worst comments I ever got on a high-rated quarterback and I’ve been doing this a long time. … Leadership — not good. Study habits — not good. The board work — below not good. Not good at all in any of those areas, raising major concerns about what this guy is going to do.”
This really shouldn’t be too much of a shock for anybody who has seen Murray during an interview, because he looks downright uncomfortable with no sign of a personality anywhere. See: Interview on the Dan Patrick Show.
At the end of the day, the only thing that will matter is if he can run an NFL offense and lead his team to victories.
