It appears Kyler Murray has some serious growing up to do, at least according to a current teammate.
In a recent radio appearance, Cardinals offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum stated that the quarterback has everything in his tool box to get things done, but also believes that Murray needs to “grow up a little bit.”
“It’s not a completed process,” Beachum said, per Arizona Sports. “I didn’t say he lacks leadership, I just think he needs to grow up a little bit. I think if he has the ability and willingness to grow up, he’s going to be just fine. They paid him for a reason, they paid him because of his talent. He has the ability to lead. When you’re in that position, we need you to lead more. You’re the face of the franchise . . . you have to lead in every single capacity.”
Just last month, former Arizona Cardinals DE J.J. Watt appeared on the Dan Patrick Show and had an awkward exchange when asked about Murray. Watt was asked about Kyler Murray as a QB and things got incredibly uncomfortable as he couldn’t come up with an answer about the guy he played alongside before he retired.
It got to the point where Watt just had to list Murray’s accomplishments from college.
“How easy was it at Oklahoma?,” asked Watt before the two turned the conversation another direction. “The guy won four state championships in high school. He won a Heisman in college.”

During this offseason, the Cardinals have added head coach Jonathan Gannon and general manager Monti Ossenfort. Murray suffered a torn ACL injury late in the 2022 season, so he will likely miss a huge chunk of the 2023 campaign. He is not expected to be ready for the start of the season.
The team has been in rumors of trading DeAndre Hopkins as well. This team might be in full rebuild mode going forward. The next season is already looking like a lost one.
