Kyle Shanahan was a confident man.
The 49ers are now set for a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs and it seems the San Francisco head coach knew the team would be there even though they had a Cinderella team in the Detroit Lions in front of them trying to shock the world.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was so confident his team would win the NFC Championship that he told general manager John Lynch before the game that he’d ‘see him on stage’ for the postgame celebrations.
A video just surfaced of that interaction as ‘Inside the NFL’ microphones caught the conversation. Shanahan told general manager John Lynch, “See you on stage, man.”
The Lions dominated the first half of the NFC Championship Game and have a 24-7 lead over the 49ers. The 49ers erased a 17-point halftime deficit to win 34-31, capturing their eighth NFC championship.
The comeback started when the Lions failed to convert a fourth-and-2 from the 49ers’ 28-yard line midway through the third quarter. That decision changed the momentum and entire complexion of the contest.

Brock Purdy completed 20 of 31 passes for 267 yards with one touchdown and one interception and scrambled for 52 yards on three carries in the second half.
He will need to be just as good to deliver the 49ers their 6th Super Bowl in franchise history.
