Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts was regarded as a generational tight end prospect back in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The former fourth overall pick lived up to that hype in his rookie year, hauling in 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and a touchdown. Pitts endured the infamous sophomore slump in 2022, however, finishing with only 356 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 10 games.
Pitts is off to another frustrating start in 2023, with just 25 catches for 298 yards and one score in Atlanta’s first seven games. The Falcons are leading the NFC South with a 4-3 record, but you can’t help but wonder if GM Terry Fontenot would still be willing to deal Pitts if he got a lucrative offer for the inconsistent third-year tight end.
The Dallas Cowboys are still looking for a No. 2 pass-catcher to complement superstar wideout CeeDee Lamb, and they feel like the perfect landing spot for a player of Pitts’ caliber.
Unlike Desmond Ridder in Atlanta, Dak Prescott is an established starter and borderline top-10 quarterback. Dallas already has a prolific offense with Dak, Lamb and running back Tony Pollard leading the way. Imagine if they add Pitts as a third big-time offensive weapon for Prescott.

The Cowboys should go all-in and offer the Falcons their 2024 first-round pick plus a 2025 third-round selection. That’s a fair price for a recent top-five draft pick who possesses all-world ability, but has yet to fully put it together.
Atlanta is leading the NFC South without a productive Pitts. This offense can flourish as is with Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier and Drake London. Pitts deserves to play for a team that will fully maximize his potential, and perhaps no team needs a player like him more than the Cowboys.
