Kyle Long never forgets.
Way back in 2018 when Donald trump was in a war of words with the National Football League, he took to Twitter and talked about the ratings being down all over the league because of the National Anthem controversy.
“Wow, NFL first game ratings are way down over an already really bad last year comparison,” Trump tweeted. “If the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back?”
NFL television ratings fell by 9.7% in 2017 according to Nielsen numbers. Those days are long gone.
Long retweeted a factoid thrown out into the Twitter by sports business reporter Darren Rovell, noting that since September 2019, 47 of the top 50 most-watched American television programs have been NFL telecasts.
Long couldn’t help but to respond by referencing President Donald Trump, who has previously spoken ill of the NFL, saying: “I remember when DJT said we were done.”

One fan tried to call out Long for kneeling back in 2016 and 2017. “I remember when y’all used to kneel and now stopped,” the fan wrote.
Long clapped back at him in hilarious fashion.
“I remember that false narrative. I have never knelt during the anthem … nor has anyone that I’ve played with. Gold bless u bro! Get some booty or some friends in 2020 please!”
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, say: “Get that son of a b—- off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired,” Trump said at a rally in Alabama in 2017.
Those tense days between Trump and the league seem to be over…for now.
