The general manager for a struggling NFC team is in attendance to watch Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
According to Charleston Bowles of Rivals.com, Minnesota Vikings’ general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is in attendance for the highly-touted showdown between two of the nation’s top 25 ranked clubs.
Obviously, there are plenty of players to scout at this game, but Williams is the No. 1 player to watch in the nation right now. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is the overwhelming favorite to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
And Adofo-Mensah’s Vikings are currently a front-runner to win the Williams sweepstakes. They enter Sunday’s Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears with a 1-4 record.
The Carolina Panthers (0-5) are currently the worst team in football, but their first overall pick belongs to the Bears. Given Chicago’s struggles in the early going, one could only guess that they’d move on from Justin Fields and use the top pick on Williams if it fell into their hands.
Vikings’ starting quarterback Kirk Cousins is in the final year of his contract. Given Minny’s struggles and the fact he’ll be 36 years of age next year, it feels likely that the Vikings will have a new starting quarterback next year.
