Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is reportedly making excellent progress on his recovery from a season-ending Achilles tear he suffered back in October.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the 35-year-old quarterback “is ahead of schedule in his recovery”, and that Cousins will resume throwing before the NFL Combine within the next month or so.
Cousins suffered the injury in the Vikings’ Week 8 road win against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Minnesota was 4-4 with Cousins, but they limped to a 3-6 finish without their Pro Bowl signal-caller.
In his eight game appearances, Cousins completed 69.5 percent of pass attempts for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
The Vikings decided not to extend Cousins’ contract last year even though he led them to 13 wins and an NFC North division crown. If the Vikings don’t retain him, Cousins will be the biggest quarterback available in the free agent market.
