Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was carted off the field on Sunday afternoon and his season might be over based on replays.
The Vikings were leading 24-10 in the fourth quarter when quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered what appeared to be a non-contact injury. Kenny Clark sacked Cousins on the play, and Cousins limped to the sideline unable to put any weight on his right foot after his ankle appeared to buckle.
The slow motion of that injury shows us just how bad it is.
Even though the Vikings are back in the playoff race, little else matters in the big picture beyond Cousins’ status. If he is lost for the year, the Vikings will have to turn things over to a backup quarterback unless they can make a big trade before Tuesday’s trade deadline or with a look at a free agent.
