NFL fans were laughing at the attire of Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Kirk Cousins during his team’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.
Cousins didn’t play at all during the Vikings’ preseason opener, but he was (mostly) suited up for game action anyway. He had his helmet, jersey and uniform pants on…but was notably lacking his pads.
As always, NFL Twitter had a lot to say on Cousins’ sideline attire. You don’t see a quarterback dressed in full uniform without pads, after all.

Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall played at quarterback for the Vikings in a 24-13 loss. Seattle backup Drew Lock saw most of the action for the home team, completing 17 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns against one interception.
Despite leading the Vikings to 13 wins and the NFC North division crown last season, Cousins wasn’t given a contract extension this year. He’ll thus play out the 2023 season without a new deal, giving himself the prime opportunity to cash in next year.
Last season, the 35-year-old Cousins completed 65.9 percent of his pass attempts for 4,547 yards and 29 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. The Vikings’ promising season ended with a heartbreaking playoff defeat, as they were eliminated by the New York Giants on Super Wild Card Weekend.
Cousins and the Vikings will open their 2023 season with a home tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 10.
