Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is feared to have suffered an Achilles injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 24-10 win.
The Vikings quarterback was carted off late in Minnesota’s Week 8 24-10 victory over the Packers due to what the team initially called an ankle injury. It turns out Cousins actually suffered a torn Achilles, according to ESPN, with coach Kevin O’Connell confirming to reporters after Sunday’s game that a season-ending injury is the “fear.”
Orthopedic surgeon and former NFL doc David Chao that the veteran QB’s injury is much worse than what is being reported.
“By video, worry for right Achilles tendon rupture while stepping back before getting sacked – if confirmed upon MRI, out for the season – carted to the locker room and ruled out with ankle but likely an Achilles tendon tear
On a third down play for the Vikings, Kirk Cousins dropped back to pass and appeared to injure his right leg. He went to the sideline unable to put any weight on the leg and went to the blue injury tent. The replay appears to show a non-contact injury to Cousins.
Cousins completed 23 of 31 passes for two touchdowns prior to exiting.
