Bill Belichick is widely expected to become the next head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, having gone through two interviews with the NFC outfit since leaving New England.
Belichick was let go by the Patriots earlier this month, with the team failing to make the playoffs as they posted a 4-13 record amid their quarterback woes. The six-time Super Bowl winner has indicated that he wants to coach an underachieving team with a talented roster, which sounds like the Falcons, and it appears that he may have already found his QB.
Veteran Minnesota Vikings signal-caller Kirk Cousins has implied that he would not mind playing for Belichick. While he has never done so, the QB has lots of respect for the legendary HC and, given his looming free agency, there’s every possibility.
“I’m not going to turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach, but we’ll have to see where March leads,” the four-time Pro Bowler told CBS Sports this week. “It’s just a lot of unknowns right now.”
Cousins’ season ended in Week 8 when he tore his Achilles in a win over the Green Bay Packers, leaving his future with the team in doubt. Could he be set for a dream alliance with Belichick in Atlanta?
