Unless he’s signed to an extension before free agency, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins will be the top signal-caller to hit the open market in March.
Cousins is in the final year of his contract for the Vikings, and he was playing some of his best football before suffering a season-ending Achilles tear in Sunday’s Week 8 road win over the Green Bay Packers.
If the Vikings let Cousins walk, there will be no shortage of teams interested in the four-time Pro Bowler. Cousins has constantly been linked to Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers, but an NFL insider indicates that one of Minny’s division rivals could also be in on the Cousins sweepstakes.

But the Utah State product has struggled tremendously in his first season as Green Bay’s starter, completing a mere 57.7 percent of pass attempts for 1,492 yards and 11 touchdowns against eight interceptions.
If the Packers give up on Love and decide they want a QB who can help them win now, then Cousins should definitely be atop GM Brian Gutekunst’s offseason wish list.
