Mac Jones is entering his second season with the New England Patriots and everything looks headed for disaster after three preseason games.
There is major concern aside from his preseason play as the New England replaced Josh McDaniels with Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, and reports have not been too king about them.
Days after New England closed out the preseason with a 23-6 loss to the Raiders, Keyshawn Johnson offered a unique take on second-year Patriots quarterback, who threw for 71 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception in Friday’s game.
“Mac Jones this preseason, to me, looked like bad macaroni and cheese with breadcrumbs on top,” the Super Bowl champ, 50, said Monday on ESPN’s “Keyshawn, JWill & Max.”
“For whatever reason, and I don’t know if it’s Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, or it’s just the offensive line, or it’s the playcalling or he’s not seeing it clean, but he looks like a guy that belongs in the fourth round [as] opposed to the guy that we saw last year, help his team, at times, get into the playoffs. He look like a totally different dude this preseason, I don’t know what it is. Like I said, he look like a bad pan of macaroni and cheese.”
Jones, the Patriots’ first-round pick in 2021, helped lead New England to a playoff appearance last season.
Through 17 regular-season games last season, Jones threw for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns against 13 interceptions.
