Keyshawn Johnson was among the big-named talents that ESPN cut ties with on Friday, but he could be back on television in very short time.
According to a report from Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Johnson could be a candidate to join Skip Bayless on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” program. Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, who co-hosted the show with Bayless since 2016, left the program last month:
“Johnson also may become a top candidate to replace Shannon Sharpe as Skip Bayless’ debater on FS1’s “Undisputed.”
He already lives in Los Angeles, where the show is filmed.
Kellerman and Johnson are part of the roughly 20 personalities who are being informed that their time on ESPN is done, beginning Friday as the network is cutting payroll.”
Former NFL star running back LeSean McCoy was rumored to be a candidate to replace Sharpe on “Undisputed”, but nothing has been announced by FS1 on that front.
Back in February, Disney CEO Bob Iger warned that the company would be cutting 7,000 jobs as a way to save billions of dollars. Friday’s long list of layoffs including well-respected 27-year veteran Suzy Kolber, Jeff Van Gundy, Jalen Rose, Steve Young, Max Kellerman, Matt Hasselbeck and Todd McShay.
The soon-to-be 51-year-old Johnson began working for ESPN in 2007 following his retirement from football. The three-time Pro Bowler played for the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.

Johnson won a Super Bowl 37 championship ring with the Bucs in the 2002 season. That year, Johnson hauled in 76 receptions for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. The USC product was a four-time 1,000-yard receiver who finished with 814 career receptions for 10,571 yards and 64 touchdowns.
