The Indianapolis Colts have signed a veteran running back as they continue to work towards a resolution with disgruntled running back Jonathan Taylor.
Per his agents at SportsTrust Advisors, veteran running back Kenyan Drake has signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Terms of the deal weren’t immediately available.
Last week, the 2022 rushing champion asked for a trade following a meeting with Colts’ owner Jim Irsay, though the organization hasn’t given any indicator that they’re looking to shop him. Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
Aside from Taylor and Drake, the Colts’ running back depth chart also consists of Zack Moss and Deon Jackson. Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson is renowned for his dynamic dual-threat game, so it’s imperative for the Colts to have a quality rushing offense to help him out.
Drake has been a productive running back throughout his seven-year career. He had 817 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in the 2019 season that was split with the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals.

Drake turned in a career year for Arizona in 2020, rushing for 955 yards and 10 touchdowns in 15 games. In 12 games for the Baltimore Ravens last season, Drake had 482 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
For his career, the 29-year-old Drake for 3,866 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns to go along with 216 catches for 1,624 yards and eight receiving touchdowns.
