Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin released a shocking update for Kenny Pickett after his injury on Sunday.
Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a rib injury in the first half of Sunday’s 20-10 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not return.
The next day, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin stated the team is leaving the door “ajar” for Kenny Pickett to play on Thursday when Tennessee visits Acrisure Stadium.
“Probably will be a game-time-type decision, based on the information that I’m holding here today with no structural damage and so forth to his ribs,” Tomlin said. “So, we’ll see how we’ll go through the week — his ability to throw, his level of comfort, his ability of effectiveness, etc., and let that be our guide in terms of determining his availability.”
Tomlin said Pickett will try to practice at least once before facing the Titans.
Pickett, a former first-round pick of the Steelers coming out of Pitt, completed just 10 of 16 passes for 73 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. The Steelers had scored just three points by the time he exited the game.

While Pickett could play, All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will not as he will miss Thursday’s game with a hamstring injury.
