The Philadelphia Eagles will be without two of their key starters for Thursday night’s home contest against the Minnesota Vikings.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, lead running back Kenneth Gainwell and star cornerback James Bradberry are out for Thursday’s game. Gainwell is dealing with a ribs injury, and Bradberry is still recovering from a concussion.
This marks the second straight season in which the Eagles will host Minnesota in Week 2. Last year, the two clubs met on “Monday Night Football” at Lincoln Financial Field, with the eventual NFC Champions cruising to a 24-7 victory. Both clubs went on to win their respective divisions last year.
The Eagles narrowly escaped Gillette Stadium with a 25-20 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. As for the Vikings, they were upset 20-17 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home on Sunday afternoon.
It’s only Week 2, but this is already a pivotal game for both teams. The Eagles figure to once again be in contention for the NFC’s top seed and lone first-round bye, and an 0-2 start would quickly put Minnesota in a tough hole with an awfully difficult schedule still ahead.
