The surprising surging Houston Texans will be without one of their key offensive starters for the foreseeable futures.
Per ESPN’s D.J. Bien-Aime, offensive guard Kendrick Green will likely “be out indefinitely” after suffering a torn meniscus. As pointed out by Bien-Aime, it’s the latest blow to a Houston o-line that has been hit hard by the injury bug early this season.
Per Pro Football Focus, Green committed two penalties but allowed zero sacks in 208 offensive snaps. Green was acquired in an offseason trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 sixth-round selection.
The o-line has been one of Houston’s biggest weaknesses for several years, but the unit has shown tremendous improvement under rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Ohio State product has only been sacked 11 times this season.
Struggles were expected for Stroud in the early stages of his career, but he has been the league’s top rookie QB thus far with a 62.3 completion percentage for 1,212 yards and six touchdowns without an interception.

After dropping their first two games, the Texans rebounded with big-time upset wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars and Steelers. They enter Week 5 in a four-way tie for first in the AFC South along with the Jaguars, Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts.
Stroud and the Texans will try to improve to 3-2 on the young season when they visit the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday.
