Things just continue to go from bad to worse for the slumping New England Patriots.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, veteran receiver Kendrick Bourne is out for the year after suffering a torn ACL in Sunday’s 31-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The 28-year-old had three receptions for 36 yards and one touchdown against Miami before suffering the injury.
Bourne was one of the few positives on a Patriots team that is playing its worst football ever under Bill Belichick, who has been the head coach since 2020. The speedy wideout finishes the year with 37 receptions for 406 yards and four touchdowns.
Bourne was on pace for a career year that would have seen him push for 900 yards receiving. He had his best season in 2021 (his first year with the Patriots), recording 55 catches for 800 yards and five touchdowns.
With Bourne out for the year, veteran tight end Hunter Henry is the active team leading receiver with 23 receptions for only 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Demario Douglas is next with 19 catches for 222 yards.

Now at 2-6, the Patriots are headed for their third losing and non-playoff season in four years. This will also mark the club’s fifth consecutive year without a postseason victory as the agony of life without Tom Brady continues.
The Patriots will try to rebound when they host the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
