There will surely be plenty of emotions for Detroit Lions fans during Sunday’s playoff game, as it is the team’s first home postseason contest since the 1994 campaign and the first home playoff game at Ford Field will come against a franchise legend.
35-year-old signal-caller Matt Stafford expressed excitement about the opportunity to play at Ford Field this week.
His former fan base has plans for him and his wife is not happy about it.
The quarterback’s wife, Kelly, believes it is “sad” that at least one Lions fan attempted to organize a ban on Detroit fans wearing his jersey for Sunday’s contest.
TMZ Sports detailed that the fan wrote the following on Instagram: “ANNOUNCEMENT. Please don’t wear a Lions-Stafford jersey to the game. This is not a time to be cute or funny.”
Kelly Stafford responded by saying, “Well this is sad because it’s the completely opposite of how we feel about this city, but Matthew has always been the bigger person and will continue to be that. Praying for an incredible game with zero injuries.”

The fan wrote back and said, “We love Matthew, just not this week.”
Matthew Stafford is the best quarterback in the history of the Detroit Lions franchise, and the stats prove it.
In 12 years with the franchise, Stafford completed 3,898 of 6,224 passes for 45,109 yards and 282 touchdowns. The one area that Stafford never broke through with Detroit was in the playoffs, where he went 0-3.
Now, he has a chance to make sure the Lions still remain winless in the playoffs with him on the field.
