Chargers star wide receiver Keenan Allen had himself a milestone night against the New York Jets on Monday night.
But the five-time Pro Bowler also found himself being used as an example of what a shoulder could end up looking like if a grade 3 AC joint injury isn’t surgically repaired.
Allen was the center of attention after he became just the 54th player in NFL history to reach over 10,000 career receiving yards in the 27-6 win. Sports physician, Dr. Jesse Morse, shared a still of the wideout while he was being interviewed, pointing to what appears to be a bone popping out of his shoulder.
Apparently, Allen sustained a shoulder injury during his rookie season that was not operated on.
Morse also noted that the injury is similar to what rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered. The Colts QB has since undergone surgery as he cannot afford not to given his position, plus the fact that the joint connects to his throwing arm.
Needless to say, fans were in some shock.

Right, back to Allen’s career night. The 30-year-old started the game with 9,930 receiving yards to his name and hit the milestone on an incredible 23-yard catch. His 10,007 yards put him right behind Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, who registered 10,060.
Allen joins Julio Jones, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, Travis Kelce, and Davante Adams as the only active receivers in the NFL with at least 10,000 career receiving yards.
