As many expected, Denver Broncos veteran safety Kareem Jackson has been handed a lengthy suspension following another dangerous hit that led to an ejection on Sunday.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the league has suspended Jackson for four games following his hit on Green Bay Packers rookie tight end Luke Musgrave. Jackson was also ejected back in Week 2 for a hit on Washington Commanders tight Logan Thomas.
In his statement, NFL VP of Football Operations Jon Runyan noted that the 35-year-old safety “has had multiple offenses for personal fouls” in 2023. Jackson can appeal his suspension, but as of now, he won’t be eligible to return until Week 13 against the Houston Texans.

As noted by Mike Klis of 9News in Denver, Jackson has now lost nearly $90,000 in fines for unnecessary roughness.

The Broncos held on for a close 19-18 victory over the Packers in a Super Bowl 32 rematch. Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning 52-yard field goal with 3:50 remaining. P.J. Locke’s late interception off of Jordan Love helped the Broncos put the game away for their first home victory of 2023.
Jackson is in his fifth season season with the Broncos. In seven games, the veteran defensive back has two interceptions, three pass defenses and 42 combined tackles. Prior to joining Denver, Jackson played with the Houston Texans from 2010 to 2018.
Jackson’s four-game ban is the longest for a player-safety infraction since Vontaze Burfict and Myles Garrett were suspended for 12 and 6 games, respectively, in 2019. Burfict was suspended for targeting while Garrett’s punishment stemmed from his helmet-swinging incident with the Steelers’ Mason Rudolph.
