The Washington Commanders are looking into the possibility of adding a Pro Bowl running back to their offense.
According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, the team has made preliminary inquiries pertaining to former Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt.
Hunt, the NFL’s rushing yards leader in 2017, played in all 17 games for Cleveland in 2022, rushing for a total of 468 yards while adding 210 receiving yards.
The 27-year-old spent the last four seasons with the Browns after being waived during his second season with the Kansas City Chiefs, who made the decision to let him go following a video that surfaced showing him kicking a woman.
He had his best year with the Browns in 2020, recording 841 yards.
Nick Chubb’s emergence as one of the best running backs in the league saw to limited usage for the Ohio native but he also appeared to have lost a step.

Since the incident that prompted the Chiefs to release him in 2018, Hunt has remained on the straight and narrow, barring a traffic stop.
A move to Washington would also mean a reunion with Eric Bieniemy, who was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City from 2018 to 2022.
Bieniemy joined the Commanders as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator this offseason, having helped the Chiefs win another Super Bowl.
