The Los Angeles Rams may have struck out in the Christian McCaffrey sweepstakes, but it appears as though they are not ready to throw in the towel when it comes to their pursuit of an upgrade at the running back position.
According to recent reports, the Rams have been in contact with the Cleveland Browns regarding the availability of running back Kareem Hunt. It is also believed that the Browns would be willing to part ways with the 27-year-old rusher for the price of a fourth-round pick.
This all comes on the heals of the Rams’ attempt to trade one of their own running backs in Cam Akers, who was reportedly disappointed with his usage through the first portion of L.A.’s 2022 campaign.
Hunt is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, so a 4th rounder may seem like a steep price for a half-a-year rental at the running back position. But if there’s a team who’s not afraid to spend draft capital in an effort to win now, it’s the Rams.
Another thing to consider is the fact that the Rams currently have a capable rusher in Darrell Henderson Jr. on their roster. And they’re expected to get back rookie Kyren Williams in the coming weeks as well. The latter was expected to play a big role in the Rams’ backfield before he suffered a high ankle sprain early in the team’s week one loss to the Bills.
