Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has the chance to break yet another impressive NFL record when his team welcomes the Seattle Seahawks to Arrowhead on Saturday.
As noted by Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Mahomes is just six completions away from breaking the record for most consecutive pass attempts without an incompletion. Mahomes stands at 20 entering Saturday’s contest.
Per Smith, the record is shared by Philip Rivers (2018), Nick Foles (2018), Marcus Mariota (2018) and Ryan Tannehill (2015). Rivers and Foles each accomplished the feat in one game, while Mariota and Tannehill reached the feat over a two-game stretch.
The 27-year-old Mahomes is widely regarded as the favorite to win the 2022 NFL MVP award. He has completed 67.4 percent of his pass attempts (the best mark of his career up to this point) for 4,496 yards and 35 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
Mahomes and the Chiefs enter Sunday with an 11-3 record, tied with the Buffalo Bill’s for the top record in the AFC.
